The 14. Węgiel Film Festival and the Open Days of the Radio and Television Faculty will take place on the 6. and 7. April at the Kosmos Cinema in Katowice.

During the festival, organized by the students of the Faculty, 37 films from 14 countries will be presented. Short films will be judged by the jury: Violetta Rotter – Kozera, Anna Bielak, Tomasz "Spell" Grządziela and Piotr Jasiołek. During the festival there will also be meetings with jury members.

The festival will be combined with the Open Days of the Faculty during which the candidates will have an opportunity to get information about education at the Faculty, course of studies and the rules of recruitment. Candidates will also have an opportunity to consult their artistic work with our lecturers. Those interested in studies in Cinematography and Photography, please take the files with your photographic work.

The Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Silesia invites the entire academic community to debate "Do we need the country of law?". The debate will be held on 30 March 2017., At 11:00 am, in the auditorium room No. 8 (Bankowa 11B).

The meeting will be attended by eminent Polish lawyers: Professor Stanislaw Waltoś and Professor Andrzej Zoll.

On March 5 the Silesian Theatre hosted the finals of the "The Proposal – premiere in a week" - a joint initiative of the Faculty of Radio and Television and Acting School at the Silesian Theatre.

Seven students of Cinematography at the Faculty of Radio and Television with selected pairs of young actors from the Acting School had only one week to create together the author's staging of the famous one-act play written by Anton Chekhov. The project has started the cooperation between the Silesian artistic schools. Although the entire project sounded risky, artists managed to create a performance at a very high level.

During the 10th Off-Film Festival FILMOFFO America was honored with the Golden Hedgehog Audience Award. The Festival took place on 24-25 February in Opole Lubelskie.
