Main research areas of the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School:
- Film and television directing, cinematography. The issue of methods of analysis of audiovisual work, film narration, composition of film image, impact of new technologies on the language and poetics of the film and the issues of the DoP and director’s workshop determining its final shape.
- Artistic photography. It includes research on the history and artistic and technological aspects of contemporary photography. The issues include also problems of exposition of photosensitive materials, the use of special techniques in shaping the artistic visions in photography and new ways of artistic performance in digital photography.
- Media Studies, audiovisual law. It includes in particular the issues of political, economic and legal functioning of mass media in Poland and in the European Union. It also applies to social communication (including political marketing and PR) and public opinion research to policy changes.
- Cinema and film production. Specialty includes research on artistic, organizational and financial aspects of Polish and European film industry in historical and contemporary perspective. It also includes research on the effects of political and economic conditions on the artistic shape of the cinema and its national and European identity.
