Jerzy Łapiński

Jerzy Łapiński

Photographer, typographer, lecturer, appraiser, court expert for photography. He studies polygraphy at the Warsaw Technical University. His Master's thesis concerned the sensitometric properties of black and white materials. Since 1976 he had worked in the photography movement. In 1979, co-founder of the Photography Gallery Hybrydy in Warsaw. From 1979 to 1981, he taught photography at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Since 1989, he is an expert of the Ministry of Cultural in the matters of photography, and since 2005 he is a court expert for photography in the District Court in Warsaw. In addition to his own work he conducts collector magnification for other photographers, galleries and educational activities.

He lectured about the technique and technology of photography, light-sensitive materials, large-format photographs at the Warsaw Film School, Lodz Film School, Faculty of Radio and Television at University of Silesia in Katowice and in many courses organized by ZPAF. He organizes darkroom courses and courses of large-format photographs. He has written many articles on photographic techniques. He made photographs to: " O tym, jak powstawał Taniec Wampirów Romana Polańskiego" – Green Publishers, "Pincel" – Bosh Publishing House.

His works are in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw, Wrocław and numerous private collections.

He is active in the Union of Polish Artistic Photographers and the Association of Polish Nature Photographers. He received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and the Arts three times. In 2000, he won second prize in John Sunderland Mountain Photography Competition in Nowy Targ, and I prize in the Biennale of Mountain Photography in Jelenia Góra.
