The film "Mother's Day" directed by Patryk Kaflowski, produced at the Kieślowski Film School is now on the so-called long Oscar-winning list appreciating short fictional films. The 15 titles that will be included in the shortlist of candidates for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards will be announced on December 21, 2021.
Patryk Kaflowski's film tells the story of a young, pregnant woman who has to deal with complications during childbirth. A female fox wandering around the area looking for food is a witness to the fight for the baby.
The cinematographer for the film is Patryk Roman. Michał Walter and Patryk Kaflowski were responsible for the editing. Krzysztof Lang was responsible for pedagogical supervision over the production. The producer of the film is Krystyna Doktorowicz (Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia).
"Mother's Day" had its world premiere during the 40th edition of the Koszalin Festival of Film Debuts “Young and Film”. The film won the International Competition at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival in India, receiving the Oscar qualification at the same time. Currently, the film is presented at the prestigious Raindance Film Festival - the largest independent film festival in Great Britain.
The 94th American Film Academy Awards Gala is scheduled for March 27, 2022. The nominees will be announced on February 8.
