Damian Kocur's feature debut "Bread and Salt" with cinematography by Tomasz Woźniczka will have its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival. "Bread and Salt" will compete for prizes in the Horizons competition. Damian Kocur and Tomasz Woźniczka are graduates of Kieślowski Film School in Katowice. The film was produced at the Munk Studio.
"Bread and Salt" is a story about a young pianist, a student of the Warsaw University of Music, who returns to his hometown on vacation, where his mother, younger brother and friends from the neighborhood are waiting for him.
Damian Kocur is the author of internationally awarded short films. The last one, "Beyond is the day" won, among others awards for the best short film at the international film festivals in Trieste and Tehran, the award for the best European film at the festival in Clermont-Ferrand and was nominated for the European Film Award.
Tomasz Woźniczka is a laureate of the Golden Tadpole and the Award of the Polish Filmmakers Association for the Most Promising Young Artist at the Camerimage International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography for the film "Beyond the Horizon" by Kuba Czekaj. Currently a lecturer at the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice.
The 79th Venice International Film Festival will be held from August 31 to September 10 this year.
