On October 28, during the photography gala of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie (DGPh) e.V., Dr. Rafał Milach, lecturer at Kieślowski Film School, was honored with the prestigious Dr. Erich Salomon Award.
This distinction, which was meant to recognize photojournalism since 1971, was initially given to only institutions, magazines, or organizations. It wasn't until 1983 that this award went to an individual.
The German organization has recognized Milach for his distinctive style of combining activism and art through documentary photography and promotional activities. His area of focus is migration and the transformation of society, and his work is expressed through a gamut of media, from photography to concept art to curating.
This is the first time that a Polish individual has won this award, which further enhances Milach's achievement. The link below provides details of all the previous laureates.
