Kieślowski Film School and the Silesia Film Institution join forces in a new project. Soon, we will see short films by students of the Film School on the screens of studio cinemas in Katowice, Żywiec and Racibórz. The new SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION starts in the second half of October.
For years, the Silesia Film Institution has been keeping its finger on the pulse of news coming from the young Polish filmmakers. Many of them - like Maciej Pieprzyca, Marek Lechki and Agnieszka Smoczyńska - graduated from the Kieślowski Film School, one of the best universities of this type in the country. Wanting to support young filmmakers who are just waiting for their debut on the big screen, Silesia Film and the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice joined forces and from mid-October we will jointly implement a project called the SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION. As part of the series, starting on October 20, short films made in recent years by students of the Katowice Film School will be shown on the screens of the cinemas operated by Silesia Film.
All short films were selected jointly by the Film School and Silesia Film. On the big screen, viewers will see, among others films "Lolo" (2019) by Michał Piotrowski, "Ravik The Steppe Turtle" (2018) by Michał Chmielewski, "Toń" (2019) by Martyna Ludwig, "Flower of one night" (2019) by Nata Szady, "Old Youth" ( 2018) by Marcin Magiera, "The Whisperer" (2019) by Katarzyna Sikorska. The leitmotif of all films is imagination and how it can be materialized through cinema.
The films will be shown on one selected Tuesday of the month before each of the repertoire screenings in Katowice's Kosmos, Światowid and Rialto studio cinemas, as well as in the Bałtyk Cinema in Racibórz before the Tuesday show of the Connoisseur Club and in cine-club Janosik in Żywiec before the Wednesday Film Club screening.
