Talk show with Grzegorz Paprzycki

08.02.2021

We would like to invite you to the 4. edition of the Science Premiere Stage: Scientific Talk Show - a series organized by the University of Silesia in Katowice. The series promotes interesting, inspiring and award-winning achievements of people associated with our University. This time we will meet Grzegorz Paprzycki, a graduate of directing at Kieślowski Film School, whose film "My Country So Beautiful" has a chance to compete for an Oscar.

The meeting will be held online on February 11, 2021 at 18.00. The broadcast will be available on the YouTube channel of the University of Silesia (link) and on Facebook of the University of Silesia in Katowice (link). "My Country So Beautiful" is a documentary film showing Poland as a place where nationalism emerged from the underground and became a real threat. Paprzycki's work touched critics, received many awards and was included in the so-called long list of candidates for the Academy Award. The director draws attention both to the offensive of the far-right movements, which have become part of the mainstream of Polish politics in the last few years, and to people standing on the left and right sides of the worldview and political discourse, who are determined to defend their principles and values. They are divided by one thing: their attitude to national ideology.

After the meeting we will be able to participate in a conversation with Grzegorz Paprzycki on the ZOOM platform (link).
