The first person to be granted the Kazimierz Kutz Award, founded by the city of Katowice in cooperation with the University of Silesia and the Silesian Theater, is Anna Dymna - an outstanding film and theater actress, founder of the "Mimo Wszystko" Foundation, which works with people with intellectual disabilities.

In the intention of the founders, the award in the name of the eminent Silesian director is to be regularly awarded to a selected artist whose outstanding artistic achievements contribute to building democratic and tolerant society. The award will promote artists who combine artistic activity with social involvement, which is an attitude close to the one that patron of the Award had.

The award ceremony took place on the Large Stage of the Silesian Theater on Tuesday, February 16 at 19.00, on the birthday of Kazimierz Kutz. The gala was followed by one of the most awarded performances of Teatr Śląski, namely "The Fifth Side of the World" based on the prose of Kazimierz Kutz.
