The New City book. New Vision” was shortlisted in the Photographic Publication of the Year 2023 competition and will be presented during Fotofestiwal Łódź, which opens on June 15!

A photo book about contemporary Tychy, which was created in cooperation with the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice. In the academic year 2021/2022, students of the Kieślowski Film School documented Tychy. They created under the supervision of artist Rafał Milach and museologist Ewelina Lasota. Young people, detached from screens (after a period of distance learning during the COVID-19 epidemic), went to the city. In 2021, it will be 70 years since its construction began.

We are proud to be part of the success of our lecturer dr hab. Rafał Milach, prof. UŚ (artistic supervision, editing and text) and students of our faculty, i.e. artists involved in the project:

- Anna Ryń, Bartosz Gaczyński, Paweł Grabarek, Tomasz Grzymała and Jacek Kazmierczak

Coordination: Dr. Anna Huth, lecturer at the Kieślowski Film School and Ewelina Lasota, museologist

Publisher: The City Museum in Tychy

Fantastic Matt Parey

Today we want to show off three graduates of the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia, whose combination of forces resulted in a film entitled "Fantastic Matt Parey".

We are talking about Bartosz Paduch - the director of the film, Maciej Kochajewski - the cinematographer and Justyna Kluczewska, one of the producers of the film from the Raban Foundation. Big applause for you!

On May 19, the film will be shown in Katowice's Kino Kosmos!

The film is an attempt to capture the phenomenon of Maciej Parowski, the editor responsible for the emerging fame of several generations of Polish fantasy writers. He was behind the success of such titles as The Witcher by Andrzej Sapkowski, on the basis of which the CD PROJEKT RED game and the series for Netflix were created, and the Oscar-nominated The Cathedral by Tomasz Bagiński, based on a story by Jacek Dukaj. The animated sequences of the comic book alter ego of the main character are a great complement to the recalled memories. The titular Matt Parey, seemingly withdrawn from the creators he created, exerted a huge influence on the Polish fantasy market for the next decades.

The film premiered on May 14 at Kinoteka PKiN during the 20th edition of Millennium Docs Against Gravity. We would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone interested in watching the film to check the graphic plan that we have attached in the post on our social media. Many cities, many festival shows.

The twentieth edition of the Węgiel Film Festival ended on Saturday, and from this place we would like to express our sincere thanks to all people, institutions and friendly film schools for participating in this unique event for all of us!

During this year's edition of the festival, there were five film workshops, eight masterclasses and fifteen markets - including, of course, with particular emphasis on the Student Film Market.

In addition, cinematography workshops were also conducted, which were chaired by a lecturer of our department - Dr. Łukasz Baka.

The selection of the best films of this edition was not the easiest, while the professional Jury and the exceptional audience coped with these difficulties, awarding prizes to the following films:
