At the ongoing Krakow Film Festival, Andrzej Fidyk, acclaimed for his documentaries exploring different cultures around the world, will feature an exhibition of photographs from his recent album "Dziwny koniec XX wieku" ("A Strange End of the Twentieth Century").

Prof. Fidyk, who is also a lecturer at our film school, took these photographs while working on the production of five films, all of which took place in different countries during the 1990s. On display are works made while shooting for these notable documentaries: "Rosyjski striptiz" (The Russian Striptease), "Carnaval – największe party świata" (Carnaval-The Biggest Party in the World), "Dojenie wielbłąda" (East of Eastenders), "Kiniarze z Kalkuty" (Battu's Bioscope), and "Taniec trzcin" (Umhlanga, Reed Dance in Swaziland). Fidyk is also the chairman of the jury for the International Documentary Competition at the Krakow Film Festival.

The acclaimed series "Skazana" (Convicted), directed by Bartosz Konopka, lecturer at the Kieślowski Film School, is one of the winners of this year's 26th edition of the Telekamery Tele Tygodnia awards.

The series centers on Alicja Mazur, a judge known for being ruthless toward criminals. The twisted hand of fate sees her end up in prison after being wrongfully accused of murder. Confined along with the women that she had sent to prison, Alicja must fight for her very survival.

Agata Kulesza plays the role of Alicja Mazur, and the supporting cast members consist of Michał Czernecki (Paweł Witkowski), Bartłomiej Topa (Piotr Serafin), and Martyna Byczkowska (Hania Mazur).

Katarzyna Zielińska and Kacper Kuszewski hosted the awards ceremony, which was held at the Capitol Theater. The event was broadcast by TV Puls on May 25, 2023.

"The Zone of Interest" directed by Jonathan Glazer won the Grand Prix in the Main Competition of this year's Festival de Cannes! Wonderful news!

The international jury awarded the second most important prize at the Cannes Festival to the British-Polish co-production directed by Jonathan Glazer, which makes us extremely happy, because our students and graduates worked on the film as well, congratulations!

Congratulations to everyone associated with the film, in particular to Bartosz Toboła (camera assistant and camera operator), Stanisław Cuske (camera operator), Maja Krężel (production assistant) and Marek Kita (camera assistant) and Krzysztof Świderski (video assistant).

The film had its world premiere on May 19. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the photo report from the red carpet, which we posted in one of our previous posts on our social media.

Dear Students!

This Thursday (June 1) there will be a meeting with Stefan Laudyn, director of the Warsaw Film Festival. Don't miss it!

It is a pleasure to announce that Stefan Laudyn will once again be a guest of the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice. This year, the director of the WFF will give students a presentation on the possibility of completing internships during this year's edition of the festival, which will take place from 6 to 15 October.
