The films "Slave" (2021), dir. Grzegorz Piekarski and "EAST-WEST" (2020) dir. Natalia Koniarz produced at the Kieślowski Film School are returning from the WAMA Film Festival in Olsztyn and from the International Film Festival ZOOM-ZBLIŻENIA in Jelenia Góra with nominations for the Jan Machulski Awards (edition 2022).

"Slave" received nominations during the 8th edition of the WAMA Film Festival in the following categories:

  • "Best Director": Grzegorz Piekarski for the film "Slave"
  • "Best Editing": Nikodem Chabior for the film "Slave", dir. Grzegorz Piekarski

"EAST-WEST" received nominations at the 24th International Film Festival ZOOM-ZBLIŻENIA in the following categories:

  • Best Actor - Ihor Aronov for the film "EAST-WEST"
  • Best Cinematography - Stanisław Cuske for the film "EAST-WEST"

Moreover, the jury of the feature competition of the 24th ZOOM-ZBLIŻENIA International Film Festival, composed of Magdalena Łazarkiewicz, Daniel Antosik, and Maria Sadowska, decided to give Natalia Koniarz special mention for her film "EAST-WEST".

Jan Machulski Awards were created for all filmmakers who create short films. In their assumption, they are to be the most prestigious Polish distinction dedicated to the creators of Polish short film. The first edition took place in 2005.

The film "Submission" (2020), dir. Michał Ciechomski produced at the Kieślowski Film School returns with the Grand Prix in the fiction category from the 19th edition of the Opolskie Lamy Festival.

Special mentions went to our graduates and students, Jagoda Madej ("About A Man Who Bought Milk") and Karol Lindholm ("The Last Whistle") for the films made at the Munk Studio.

The Jury of this year's Main Competition consisted of: Sebastian Smoliński, Dawid Myśliwiec and Diana Dąbrowska.

The 19th edition of the Opolskie Lamy Film Festival was held on October 1-9 in Opole.

On October 10, we celebrate World Mental Health Day - that's why the Independent Public Institute of Addiction and Co-addiction Therapy in Siemianowice Śląskie in cooperation with the Association of Addiction Therapists "Sober Siemianowice" and a group of young filmmakers has prepared a social campaign called "CHANGES THAT MAKE SENSE. With psychological help ", the purpose of which is to draw attention to the need to contact specialists, increase social awareness of caring for mental health and overcome stereotypical reactions of the environment to the existence of problems of people in crisis, bearing in mind the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic. The campaign will last 2 months.

In selected trams in Silesia and on the Internet, you will be able to watch a short spot encouraging you to take care of your mental health and be mindful of others. The campaign partners are Tramwaje Śląskie, the eFkropka Foundation, the Congress of Mental Health, Kieślowski Film School, the 14th Secondary School of Maj. H. Sucharski in Katowice, the portal Śląska Opinia, Ströer Media.

The campaign was financed from the funds of: the PZU Foundation, the Siemianowice Śląskie City Hall, the Katowice City Hall and the public fundraiser.

Vyraj (2020) dir. Agnieszka Nowosielska wins the ELBE DOCK competition in the short film category during the 4th edition of the ELBE DOCK International Film Festival in Usti nad Labem in northern Czech Republic.

The award was granted by a jury composed of: Maike Mia Höhne, Marion Bouvier and Luise Grudzinski.

The ELBE DOCK Award is intended for aspiring directors of fictional and documentary films from Central Europe. Films made in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic competed for awards in Ústí nad Labem.

The motto of this year's edition of the festival was the advice: Don't be afraid!
