America, produced by the Faculty of Radio and Television, succeeded yet again. This time the diploma short film of the Faculty’s students: Aleksandra Terpińska (script and directing) and Bartosz Bieniek (DoP) was praised by the jury of the festival Art Film Fest, which was held in Kosice, Slovakia, awarding the artists with Special Mentions in the International Competition. This is yet another success of the film, presented so far in the 30 festivals in the country and abroad and the award winning in, among others, Dresden, Potsdam, Bydgoszcz, Wroclaw, Koszalin and Katowice. In the coming weeks, America will be presented at the festivals in France, Austria, Denmark and Poland.

On June 25 in Koszalin this year's edition of the Festival of Film Debuts "The Youth and Film" ended. Among the winners of the festival were students and graduates of the Faculty of Radio and Television.

The short films awarded in the Debut Short Film Competition, produced by the Faculty of Radio and Television, were:

  • Special Award of Legal Culture for the short film for inviting the audience to participate in the transformation of character, was received by Katarzyna Warzecha, director of the film Six Months of Franek W.;
  • Amber for editing a short film for sense and sensibility in constructing the story, was received by Agata Cierniak, editor of the film Daniel directed by Anastazja Dąbrowska.

Also the graduates of the Faculty were awarded:

  • Kuba Czekaj received the award for best directing in the Feature Film Debut Competition and the Journalists Award for the feature film Baby Bump;
  • Marcin Koszałka won the Award for the best cinematography in the Feature Film Debut Competition for the film The Red Spider, which he also directed;
  • Weronika Bilska received the award for the best cinematography in the Short Film Debut Competition for films Close Ties and Lila.

Yesterday in Espinho (Portugal) began International Film Festival FEST, whose aim is to present films made by young and debuting filmmakers. Krzysztof Kieślowski Faculty of Radio and Television is, during this year's festival, well represented – viewers will have the opportunity to see as many as six films made by the students from Katowice.

The following short films were qualified for the competition section:

  • Asshole, dir. Krzysztof Komander, DoP Jakub Cachro
  • Larp, dir. Kordian Kądziela, DoP Piotr Chodura

In the section NEXXT, which consists of selected student films from film schools around the world, the following will be presented:

What I Want 4 mniejsze

June 9 in Tel Aviv this year's edition of the International Student Film Festival starts. Two films, produced by the Faculty of Radio and Television, will compete for the prizes in the International Competition:
  • America, dir. Aleksandra Terpińska, DoP Bartosz Bieniek
  • What I Want, dir. and DoP Damian Kocur

In addition, as a part of the project Film Bus, which will be held in the week preceding the festival, film The Moment, directed by Piotr Domalewski, will be shown. Festival in Tel Aviv is one of the most important student festivals in the world. Student films from the Faculty of Radio and Television also participated in the festival's competitions in the past. Last year the film Shit Eaters, directed by Agata Wojcierowska was awarded in the International Competition of the festival. For more information about this year's edition see the link.

International Film Festival in Odense (Denmark) announced the results of the selection for this year's competition. Two films, produced by Krzysztof Kieślowski Faculty of Radio and Television, were classified to the main competition:

Asshole, dir. Krzysztof Komander, DoP Jakub Cachro

Festival in Odense is accredited by the American Film Academy. This means that the winners can apply for an Oscar nomination. This year's edition will begin on August 29 and will last until September 4. More information can be found on the festival’s website.
