The University of Silesia is the organizer of the pilot edition of the Transform4Europe Week event, which will take place on May 9-13, 2022. During this time, instead of traditional classes and lectures, meetings, talks and other events will take place, so that the participants can get to know one another.

In May 2022, we will invite students, doctoral cadidates and employees representing each of the T4E Universities to Poland.

Five days will be filled with a rich offer of masterclasses, common research projects, teaching, tours, workshops and art events. We will learn the languages of the T4E partners as part of the Languages for Lunch initiative. During the afternoon meetings we will show our guests our region and traditions. We will present the most interesting research, didactic and artistic projects. It is worth adding that Tranform4Europe Week will also happen online, keeping the whole European academic community in mind.

Short fiction film "Vyraj" (2020), dir. Agnieszka Nowosielska, DoP Barbara Kaniewska, produced at the Kieślowski Film School received a special mention from the Jury in The New Talents Live Action competition at PÖFF Shorts (Black Nights Film Festival) in Tallinn.

The award was granted by the Jury composed of: Hossein Eidizadeh, Sushma Khadepaun, Tiina Savi. This year, the New Talents Live Action competition included 25 films from the most renowned film schools in the world.

PÖFF Shorts is part of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival - one of the largest film festivals in Northern Europe. The festival displays approx. 250 feature films and over 300 short films and animations. Every year it is visited by 80,000 people.

The short film "Last Days of Summer" (2020), dir. Klaudia Kęska with cinematography by Kamil Małecki produced at the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia returns from the 36th edition of the Brest European Short Film Festival in France with as many as 3 awards!

"Last Days of Summer" received:

• The Audience Award in the European Competition
• Young Jury Award
• Prize of the "Des Passeurs de Courts" federation awarded by a Jury composed of employees and volunteers of the Cinéphare cinema network

The European Short Film Festival in Brest is a film festival dedicated to short films. It has been organized since 1987 in the city of Brest, in the Brittany region of France. The 36th edition of the festival was held on November 9-14, 2021.

The film "Submission" (2020), dir. Michał Ciechomski with cinematography by Paweł Grabarek, produced at the Kieślowski Film School received the Jan Machulski Awards in the Best Film category. The production managers of the awarded film were: Matylda Jastrząb and Maria Puch.

Among the winners of this year's Jan Machulski Awards, there are also our graduates.

• Damian Kocur for the film "Beyond is the day" in the Best Director category
• Katarzyna Warzecha for the film "We Have One Heart" in the Best Screenplay category
• Martyna Jakimowska for the film "The Last Whistle", dir. Karol Lindholm in the Best Cinematography category
• Paweł Chorzępa for the film "Sonny" in the category Best Documentary

The honours were awarded by the Jury of the Jan Machulski Awards in 2021, composed of: Katarzyna Klimkiewicz, Gabriela Muskała, Piotr Dylewski, Maciej Makowski and Michał Rytel-Przełomiec.

Awards were created for all filmmakers who create short films. In their assumption, they are to be the most prestigious Polish distinction dedicated to the creators of Polish short film. The first edition took place in 2005.
