Documentary etude "Imprisoned" (2021), dir. Piotr Bieliński returns from the 68th edition of the OKFA National Independent Film Competition in Konin with the Grand Prix in the category - student film and with a nomination for the Jan Machulski Award in the category: best director. The cinematographers for the film are Marek Kita and Jan Barszczewski. Maja Krężel was responsible for production management. The producer of the film is Krystyna Doktorowicz.

The award was granted by the jury composed of: Krzysztof Majchrzak - chairman, Maria Zmarz-Koczanowicz, Piotr Domalewski, Łukasz Maciejewski, Łukasz Grzegorzek.

Among the winners of the festival there is also the animated film C`est la vie, co-directed by an employee of the Kieślowski Film School, Wojciech Sankiewicz. C`est la vie received the Polish Film Institute award in the category - independent film and was nominated for the Jan Machulski Award in the category of the best animated film.

The 68th edition of the OKFA National Independent Film Competition was held on June 9-12, 2022 in Konin.

Documentary short film "Time to Revolt" (2022), dir. Daniel Le Hai produced at the Kieślowski Film School received Jantar 2022 for a short documentary at the 41st Koszalin Film Debuts Festival "Młodzi i Film". The prize was awarded for "a heroine full of idealism who tries to calm the contemporary storm".

Among this year's laureates of the festival there is a large representation of graduates of the Kieślowski Film School:

  • The main prize of the festival, Wielki Jantar, was won by the film "Other People" directed by Aleksandra Terpińska
  • Jantar in the Feature-Length Documentary Debuts Competition won the film "Bucolic" directed by Karol Pałka
  • The award for cinematography in the Feature-Length Documentary Debuts Competition went to Karol Pałka for the film "Bucolic"
  • The Youth Jury Prize was awarded to the film "Sonata" directed by Bartosz Blaschke
  • The Audience Award went to the film "Sonata" directed by Bartosz Blaschke
  • The Special Award of the Studio Cinemas Association went to the film "Broys", directed by Marcin Filipowicz
  • Special Mention for a documentary in the Short Film Debuts Competition was awarded to Marcin Lesisz for the film "The Rocking Horses"

The 41st edition of Koszalin Festival of Film Debuts Młodzi i Film was held on June 6-11 in Koszalin.

The film "The Hero" (2021), dir. Milena Dutkowska, produced at the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia returns from the 62nd edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Zlin with the award for the best fiction film in the student competition. The film's cinematographer is Igor Połaniewicz. Ernest Małkiewicz was responsible for production management. The producer of the film is Krystyna Doktorowicz.

As we read in the Jury's justification: “This fleeting cinematic poem is told from the point of view of a ten-year-old child who is coping with the death of a loved one. The poetic film first fascinated and amused us, then saddened us, and finally gently caressed and calmed us down."

The International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Zlin (Czech Republic) is a unique, largest and one of the oldest film reviews of its kind. About 350 films from over 50 countries are shown each year, attracting around 95,000 children and adults to Moravia each year. The festival program is aimed at viewers of all age groups.

During the Grand Press Photo gala, the Photo Book of the Year 2021 competition was announced. The award for the best photo book of 2021 was awarded to a lecturer at the Kieślowski Film School, prof. Rafał Milach for the book "Strike".

The "Strike" is a visual trace of the protests that began throughout Poland on October 22, 2020 and lasted in various forms for the next several months.

The book received financial support from the Institute of Film and Theater Arts of the University of Silesia in Katowice.

The 24th edition of the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia takes place on June 7-20 in Tokyo, Japan. It is one of the most important and largest events entirely devoted to short films on the Asian continent. The documentary "Seal Story" (2020), dir. Bartłomiej Błaszczyński is part of the competition of films recorded with a smartphone. On June 12, in Paris, the short film "Forever" (2021), dir. Aleksandra Kamińska will be screened. The screening will be part of the 18th edition of the Festival des Nouveaux Cinémas.

Our most frequently presented film at foreign festivals in June is "Liberty" (2021) dir. Joanna Różniak. The film qualified for the Hungarian Friss Hús Budapest International Short Film Festival, the Israeli Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival and the Morocco Shorts International Film Festival. In the student competition of the festival in Tel Aviv, also "Mother's Day" (2021), dir. Patryk Kaflowski will be screened. On the other hand, in Morocco, the "The last days of summer" (2020), dir. Klaudia Kęska. And for the student competition during the 25th edition Zanzibar International Film Festival qualified our short film "Submission" (2020) dir. Michał Ciechomski.

"When the Night Comes" (2021), dir. Katarzyna Sikorska will be watched by audience of the 18th edition of the Nahal International Student Short Film Festival (Iran) and the 9th edition of the DEA OPEN AIR International Film Festival (Albania).

In the competition sections of the 18th edition of the Fest - New Directors / New Films Festival in Espinho, Portugal, "Slave" (2021), dir. Grzegorz Piekarski and "The Delivery" (2021) dir. Katarzyna Sikorska will be screened. It will be the international premiere of both films.

“The Hero” (2021) dir. Milena Dutkowska is in the ompetition of the largest festival dedicated to short films in North America Palm Springs International ShortFest. The 28th edition of the event will take place on June 21-27, 2022.
