Produced at the Kieślowski Film School, the film "Slave" (2021), dir. Grzegorz Piekarski returns from the 2nd edition of the "Wajda na Nowo" Film Festival with distinction. This year's jury consisted of: Filip Marczewski (chairman of the jury), Urszula Grabowska and Andrzej Pągowski. The distinction was awarded for "formal consistency, intriguing acting creations as well as precision and care for the complementary plot and visual space".
The cinematographer for the film "Slave" is Antoni Grałek. Natalia Pietsch, Maja Zaleska, Grzegorz Piekarski and Antoni Grałek were responsible for production management. The pedagogical supervision over the production was provided by prof. Adam Sikora and prof. Maciej Pieprzyca. The producer of the film is prof. Krystyna Doktorowicz.
The 2nd edition of the "Wajda na Nowo" Film Festival was held on August 18-20, 2022 in Suwałki.
The jury chaired by Filip Marczewski selected 10 short films in the Short Film Competition for Students and Graduates of Film Schools and Art Academies to be presented during the 2nd edition of the Wajda na Nowo Film Festival. Among them, there are 5 shorts produced at the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice. The Wajda na Nowo Film Festival will be held on August 18-20, 2022 in Suwałki.

The Wajda na Nowo Film Festival was established in 2021 as a tribute to one of the greatest directors in the history of Polish cinematography, Andrzej Wajda, born in Suwałki. The special guest of the 2nd edition of the festival will be the excellent Polish director Feliks Falk. The artistic director of the event is a graphic and poster designer Andrzej Pągowski, and the program director – a film expert and a film and theater critic Łukasz Maciejewski.

Our short films in August will be shown, among others in Germany, Tunisia, Romania, Hungary and North Macedonia.
On August 14, "East West" (2020) dir. Natalia Koniarz will be seen by viewers of the 46th edition of Open-Air Filmfest Weiterstadt in Germany. In turn, „Liberty” (2021), dir. Joanna Różniak will have a screening in Hamburg as part of The Political Shortfilm - Hamburg Summer Cinema.
„Forever” (2021) dir. Aleksandra Kamińska will compete for awards in the international competition of the 35th edition of the Festival International du Film Amateur de Kélibia in Tunisia. The event will be held on August 13-20.
Romanian viewers will have a chance to see „Test” (2020) dir. Bartosz Toboła during the 1st edition of STOP CADRU International Film Festival in Curtea de Argeș, as well as „The Delivery” (2021) dir. Katarzyna Sikorska during The International Film and Television Festival SIMFEST in Târgu Mureș.
During the 11th edition of the Tetova International Film Festival in North Macedonia, two etudes will have a chance to win prizes in the student competition: „Vyraj” (2020), dir. Agnieszka Nowosielska and „The Boy Who Walked Barefoot” (2020), dir. Gracjana Piechula.
We will also have a strong representation at the end of the month in Budapest during the 18th edition of the BuSho Budapest Short Film Festival. In the international competition, the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School will be represented by 3 films: „The Hero” (2021), dir. By Milena Dutkowska, "Pure Cinema” (2021), dir. Piotr Trzęsowski and „Mother's Day” (2021) dir. Patryk Kaflowski. The event will take place August 30 - September 4.
Our short films in August will also be present at the Malhaar Global Virtual Film Festival. This exotic festival started at the beginning of the pandemic in India in a completely online version. The films of the 2nd edition of the festival will cover such topics as: Education, Mental Health, Migrations, Gender, and Passions. The program of the event included 5 etudes produced at the Kieslowski Film School. They are: "The Siblings" (2020) dir. Michał Rakowski, "Group Theory" (2021) dir. Zuzanna Karpińska, "Imprisoned" (2021) dir. Piotr Bieliński and "Noc za Dnia" (2021) and "The Delivery" (2021) dir. Katarzyna Sikorska. The event runs entirely online from August 19-28.
20 Polish and foreign films qualified for the International Short Film Competition of the 16th edition of the BNP Paribas Dwa Brzegi Film and Art Festival. Among them are 2 short films produced at the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice. The Film and Art Festival of BNP Paribas Dwa Brzegi will be held on 30.07-7.08.2022 in Kazimierz Dolny and Janowiec on the Vistula River.

BNP Paribas Dwa Brzegi is an interdisciplinary cultural event presenting valuable Polish and foreign films: premieres, important films of the past year and images that were of key importance for the development of world cinematography, as well as theater performances, exhibitions, concerts and events in other fields.

Damian Kocur's feature debut "Bread and Salt" with cinematography by Tomasz Woźniczka will have its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival. "Bread and Salt" will compete for prizes in the Horizons competition. Damian Kocur and Tomasz Woźniczka are graduates of Kieślowski Film School in Katowice. The film was produced at the Munk Studio.
"Bread and Salt" is a story about a young pianist, a student of the Warsaw University of Music, who returns to his hometown on vacation, where his mother, younger brother and friends from the neighborhood are waiting for him.
Damian Kocur is the author of internationally awarded short films. The last one, "Beyond is the day" won, among others awards for the best short film at the international film festivals in Trieste and Tehran, the award for the best European film at the festival in Clermont-Ferrand and was nominated for the European Film Award.
Tomasz Woźniczka is a laureate of the Golden Tadpole and the Award of the Polish Filmmakers Association for the Most Promising Young Artist at the Camerimage International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography for the film "Beyond the Horizon" by Kuba Czekaj. Currently a lecturer at the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice.
The 79th Venice International Film Festival will be held from August 31 to September 10 this year.
