Short Waves Festival Logo

„The Return” (dir. Damian Kocur, DoP Kacper Sędzielewski) and „Come and play with me” (dir. Milena Dutkowska, DoP Igor Połanewicz), produced by the Faculty of Radio and Television, will be presented during Short Waves Festival, which starts on March 21. These two productions will compete in Polish Competition contest, with nine other films, for the main prize in amount of 7 thousand zlotych.

Paweł Chorzępa with his prize

A gala of Andrzej Munk's Awards for best directorial debut and best operator has took place in Film School in Lodz on February 1. Paweł Chorzępa - lecturer at the Kieślowski Faculty of Radio and Television has been awarded in the category of Best Cinematography for his cinematography in "ZUD", a movie directed by Marta Minorowicz. The Jury's verdict was following: "For strong and mature feature photos created with very modest money in documentary terms. For the ability to putting the camera in the right place and for showing hope in the narrated history".

Debut by Tomáš Weinreb and Petr Kazda "I, Olga Hepnarová" has won four of the nine awards during gala of the Czech Film Critics Awards, which took place on January 28.

Czech critics praised Adam Sikora who received the award for Audiovisual Achievement. Tomáš Weinreb and Petr Kazda were awarded in the categories of Best Director and the Revelation of the Year. As many as three films produced by Krzysztof Kieślowski Faculty of Radio and Television will compete in the contest during the XXIV National Festival of Film Art "Prowincjonalia 2017" in Września.

Lockjaw (dir. Kordian Kądziela), It Happens (dir. Arek Biedrzycki) and Disorder (dir. Julian Tałandziewicz) will rival for the title of best short feature film.

On January 20 will start the 28th Trieste Film Festival, international film festival, during which a short film Disorder, produced by the Faculty of Radio and Television, will be presented. The film was produced by the students of WRiTV Julian Tałandziewicz (script, direction and editing) and Maciej Kwasniewski (cinematography). Disorder will compete for the title of the best short film with seventeen other productions from Croatia, Bosnia, Romania, Slovenia and Greece.

Disorder is a story of a librarian who snatches of life lethargy after a seemingly trivial event and awakens the hitherto dormant desires is told with no words. The film was previously presented at the Lubuskie Film Summer in Łagów where it received the Silver Grape in the Short Feature Film Competition. Its international premiere was at the 27th International Short Film Festival in Sao Paulo.

The Trieste Film Festival is an international film festival founded in 1989. Held annually on the third week of January in Trieste, it has become the leading festival of Central and Eastern Europe cinema in Italy. This years edition will last until January 29.
