This year, the Award of the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia for lifetime achievement will be given to prof. dr hab. Filip Bajon. Our lecturer will receive the Platinum Lions award during the final gala of the Polish Feature Film Festival.

In the achievements of prof. Filip Bajon, there are almost 40 feature and documentary films, theatre plays and series awarded at festivals and by prestigious film awards. The most famous are: "Aria for an Athlete", " 1901. Children on Strike", " Shilly-Shally", "The Magnate", "Poznan 56", "The Butler".

Platinum Lions of the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia have so far been awarded to: Andrzej Wajda, Jerzy Antczak, Sylwester Chęciński, Tadeusz Chmielewski, Tadeusz Konwicki, Janusz Majewski, Roman Polański, Witold Sobociński, Jerzy Wójcik, Jerzy Gruza, Jerzy Skolimowski, Krzysztof Zanussi, Agnieszka Holland.

The 47th Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia will be held on September 12-17, 2022.

The 19th edition of the Węgiel Film Festival has come to an end. Among the winners of the festival are films produced at the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia: "Mother's Day" (2021) dir. Patryk Kaflowski and "The Hero" (2021) dir. Milena Dutkowska. The award for the best fiction film went to Adelina Borets - a current student of directing at the Kieślowski Film School for the film "Eden House" (2021) produced at the Warsaw Film School.

The jury of the 19th edition of Węgiel Film Festival composed of: Ewa Puszczyńska, Łukasz Ronduda and Piotr Sobociński jr.

• Award for the best fictional film: "Eden House", dir. Adelina Borets

The award was given for "a visually uncompromising disturbing story about the brutality of the modern world, where instrumentalised religion enters deeply into a relationship with the criminal world."

DI Factory Award for post-production services worth PLN 15,000

• Special Jury Award: "Mother's Day", dir. Patryk Kaflowski

The award was granted for "a very suggestive story about loneliness that connects all living creatures in the context of the interpenetration of the human and animal world, nature and nature".

Cafe Ole Sound Studio award for sound post-production services worth PLN 10,000

• Award for the best cinematography: "When Sicades Become Silent", dir. Aitor Sanchez

The award was granted for "the incredible synergy between the image and the plot, and for consistently deepened visual dramaturgy. For great light that translates into emotions."

ORKA award for the rental of a studio for image post-production worth PLN 10,000

In turn, the Audience Award went to the creators of the film "The Hero" (2021) dir. Milena Dutkowska.

Węgiel Film Festival is organized by the 2nd year students of the Film and Television Production of the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice.

The 3rd edition of the Habitat International Film Festival takes place on May 6-15 in the capital of India, New Delhi. Four of our short films will be presented in the block of student films from Poland: "End of the world" (2020), dir. Karol Ulman, "Mother's Day" (2021) dir. Patryk Kaflowski, "Last days of Summer" (2020) dir. Klaudia Kęska and "Submission" (2020) dir. Michał Ciechomski. The screening will take place on May 8.

American premiere of the film "The Cabin" (2021), dir. Bartosz Toboła will take place in New York during The New York Science Fiction Film Festival.

Two films produced at the Kieślowski Film School can also be watched in May in the Czech Republic. "Mother's Day" (2021) dir. Patryk Kaflowski will compete for awards in the short film competition of the 5th edition of the International Film Festival Elbe Dock in Usti nad Labem. In turn, "The Hero" (2021), dir. Milena Dutkowska qualified for the student competition of the 62nd edition of the Zlín Film Festival International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Zlín.

"Liberty" (2021) dir. Joanna Różniak will represent the School in the short film competition of the 19th edition of the Neisse Film Festival in Großhennersdorf, Germany. On the other hand, "Forever" (2021), dir. Aleksandra Kamińska will compete for the prizes of the 9th edition of Cortos En Cortos in Mexico.

On Thursday, April 28, 2022, we invite students of film and television production to participate in workshops with Jarosław Boliński, a film and advertising producer. Workshop meeting entitled "The music video production market" will take place at 12:00 in room 3.08 of the Kieślowski Film School at ul. Pawła 3 in Katowice.

Jarosław Boliński is a film and advertising producer. He graduated in the film and television production at the Radio and Television Faculty of the University of Silesia in Katowice (currently the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia). The founder of the Propeller Film media house, which has produced several dozen advertising spots. Jarosław Boliński produced the film "Mr. T." awarded at festivals (2019) directed by Marcin Krzyształowicz, who received 12 nominations for the Polish Film Awards Eagles 2020, and eventually received two Eagle statuettes.
