46 short films from 15 countries were qualified for the 4 international competition Okiem Młodych (Young Eye) of the 8. Spektrum Film Festival. Among them are 3 short films produced at the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice. The 8. Spektrum Film Festival takes place from 22 to 29 October 2022 in Świdnica.

The 1st edition of the International Short Film Festival Nano Film Festival will be held on October 21-23, 2022 at the Kijów Cinema in Krakow.

The competition films of the Nano Film Festival will compete for the Golden, Silver and Bronze Pretzel awards. The winners will be selected by a jury composed of: director and screenwriter Kinga Dębska (chairperson), composer and director Tomasz Gąssowski, cinematographer Adam Bajerski, German theater and film artist Leonard Drescher, and director, screenwriter and cinema historian Andrzej Krakowski. Workshops / meetings with filmmakers led by Robert Gliński, the festival's artistic director and Jerzy Armata, a film critic, are an important point in the festival's program.

Festiwal Filmów Frapujących focuses on interesting characters, intriguing forms and original stories. The event is organized by the Municipal Art Center in Gorzów Wielkopolski and the cinema 60 krzeseł.

The names of all the creators who will compete for this year's Jan Machulski Awards have been announced. Among the nominees there are films produced at the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice. The winners in each category will be selected by the Jan Machulski Award jury, composed of renowned filmmakers and screen stars every year. The jury will also award an award in the "Best Film" category, which will be chosen from among all the titles nominated in the other categories. It will be awarded to the producer and director of the winning title.

All nominated films will be shown on November 2-3, 2022 at the Atlantic cinema in Warsaw during the 21st CINEMAFORUM. The award ceremony of the 18th edition of the Jan Machulski Awards will take place as part of the gala at the end of the festival - on November 6, 2022.

Jan Machulski Awards were created for all filmmakers who create short films. In their assumption, they are to be the most prestigious Polish distinction dedicated to the creators of Polish short cinema. The first edition took place in 2005.

As part of the 38th Warsaw Film Festival, a panel will be held on the future of film schools in Poland. The event will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 4:00 pm at Kino Elektronik (ul. Gen. Józefa Zajączka 7).

The guests of the panel will be:

  • prof. Krystyna Doktorowicz, Dean of the Kieslowski Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice
  • prof. Milenia Fiedler, Rector of the Łódź Film School
  • prof. Wojciech Marczewski, co-founder and Program Director of the Wajda School
  • dr Barbara Pawłowska, Vice-Rector at the Warsaw Film School
  • Jerzy Rados, Deputy Director of the Gdynia Film School

The discussion will be led by Stanisław Bryś - a graduate of the film production at the Kieslowski Film School in Katowice.

The organizer of the panel is the Kieslowski Film School. The partners of the event are the Warsaw Film Festival and the Warsaw Film School.

The 38th Warsaw Film Festival was opened by the film "Dangerous Men" - a full-length feature debut directed by Maciej Kawalski. The film takes part in the 1-2 Competition.

Our lecturer, Beata Dzianowicz takes part in the International Competition. Her latest film, "Shreds", was among 15 selected films from all over the world.
