"Slave" (2021), directed by Grzegorz Piekarski and produced at the Kieślowski Film School, has been selected for the Short Film Competition of the 32nd FilmFestival Cottbus. The competition will have 11 films from 13 countries in Central and Eastern Europe competing for prizes. The films will be judged by an international jury composed of Peter Hoferica (Slovakia), Eugen Kelemen (Romania), and Beata Walentowska (Poland).

Antoni Grałek handled the cinematography for "Slave". Natalia Pietsch, Maja Zaleska, Grzegorz Piekarski, and Antoni Grałek were responsible for production management. Prof. Adam Sikora and Prof. Maciej Pieprzyca supervised the production. The producer of the film is Prof. Krystyna Doktorowicz. The screening of "Slave" is scheduled for November 11 at 19:00 at the Weltspiegel Kino in Cottbus. The festival winners will be announced during the official gala on November 12.

The FilmFestival Cottbus is one of the leading festivals dedicated to the cinema of Central and Eastern Europe. It focuses on presenting feature films from former socialist countries, including post-Soviet countries and their economically and culturally neighboring countries, such as Finland, Greece, and Turkey. The festival consists of four competitions, including two international ones, which focus osn feature films and short films. The 32nd edition of the Cottbus International Film Festival takes place from November 8 to 13, 2022.

We would like to invite our students and graduates to a meeting with Stefan Laudyn - director of the Warsaw Film Festival. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 1 p.m. in the cinema hall of the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice.

The open meeting for students will focus on the relationship between filmmakers and film festivals.

Stefan Laudyn has been the Director of the Warsaw Film Festival since 1991. Founder of the Warsaw Film Foundation and co-founder of the Alliance of Central and Eastern European Festivals, which brings together the most important film festivals in Central and Eastern Europe. Member of the European Film Academy.

We would like to remind you that on October 22, 2022, as part of the 38th edition of the Warsaw Film Festival, a panel was held on the future of film schools in Poland. Outstanding specialists in the field of film education took part in the meeting. Our representative was the Dean of the Kieślowski Film School prof. Krystyna Doktorowicz.

Produced at the Kieślowski Film School short film "Quiver" (2022), dir. Joanna Różniak returns from the 7. Women's Art Festival – “Demakijaż” with the Prize in the "Let's Start the Revolution" competition. The award was granted by the Jury composed of: Nata Szada, Klaudia Folga, Daria Żwan and Weronika Modrzejewska-Rubin.

The cinematographer for the film "Quiver" is Łukasz Łatanik. Jakub Lebiedziński was responsible for production management. The pedagogical supervision over the production was performed by prof. Michał Rosa. The producer of the film is prof. Krystyna Doktorowicz.

The 7. “Demakijaż” Women's Art Festival was held on October 26-30, 2022 in Lublin. Competition screenings took place in the black hall of Galeria Labirynt, in the Syrena Salon and in the Labyrinth Cellar.

Produced at the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice, the short films "The Delivery" and "When the Night Comes" directed by Katarzyna Sikorska return with distinctions from Ukraine! Film Festival in Warsaw and Seguin Film & Arts Festival in the USA.

"The Delivery" (2021), dir. Katarzyna Sikorska received a special mention from the social jury in the short film competition of the 7th edition of Ukraine! Film Festival in Warsaw. The jury composed of: Justyna Chaberska, Marlena Ochońska, Łukasz Skórko, Michał Mielnik appreciated "taking up an extremely difficult and delicate topic related to surrogate motherhood in the context of Polish-Ukrainian relations, aesthetic and technical values and a high level of acting skills".

Arkadiusz Powałka is the cinematographer for the film "The Delivery". Adrianna Orych was responsible for production management. The pedagogical supervision over the production was provided by prof. Michał Rosa and Dr. Łukasz Baka. The producer of the film is prof. Krystyna Doktorowicz.

7th edition of Ukraine! The Film Festival was held on October 21-29 in Kinoteka in Warsaw. The short film competition was an excellent opportunity to present young, independent filmmakers associated with Polish and Ukrainian cinematography. From among the submissions, 24 films, both fictional, documentary and animated, were selected and evaluated by a professional jury and a social jury.

On the other hand, the short film "When the Night Comes" (2021), dir. Katarzyna Sikorska received a special mention in the student category at the Seguin Film & Arts Festival. The festival was held October 29-30 in Seguin, Texas, USA.

The cinematographer for the film "When the Night Comes" is Arkadiusz Powałka. Maria Kawalec was responsible for production management. The pedagogical supervision over the production was performed by prof. Filip Bajon. The producer of the film is prof. Krystyna Doktorowicz.

Produced at the Kieślowski Film School short films "Joanna d'Arc" (2022), dir. Aleksander Szamałek and "Quiver" (2022) dir. Joanna Różniak returns from the 8th edition of the Spektrum Film Festival in Świdnica with special mentions.

 "Joanna d'Arc" (2022), directed by Aleksander Szamałek, received a Special Mention in the Young Eye Competition for Document for "moving and empowering the story of a woman making choices that seem impossible to fulfill. The director does not judge his character. He portrays her world in a sensitive and honest way. "Joanna d'Arc" proves that the categories that define you, such as class, cultural or social affiliation, can always be crossed and that it is never too late to change." The award was granted by the jury composed of: Anna Serdiukow, Jakub Socha and Anna Zakrzewska.

The short film "Joanna d'Arc" also received the 2nd Prison Jury Prize awarded by inmates from the Detention Ward in Świdnica.

"Quiver" (2022), dir. Joanna Różniak received a Special Mention in the Young Eye Competition for Fiction. The award was granted by the Jury composed of people with disabilities from the Occupational Therapy Workshop in Mokrzeszów. The jury appreciated "showing disability, touch and dancing".

Among the winners of the festival is also "Sonata" dir. Bartosz Blaschke, who won the Spectrum Competition for feature fiction films. Bartosz Blaschke is a graduate of Cinematography at the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice and recently a tutor of the film:lab program organized by Kieślowski Film School.

The 8th edition of the Spektrum Film Festival was held on October 22-29, 2022 in Świdnica.
