Damian Kocur's feature debut "Bread and Salt" with cinematography by Tomasz Woźniczka will have its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival. "Bread and Salt" will compete for prizes in the Horizons competition. Damian Kocur and Tomasz Woźniczka are graduates of Kieślowski Film School in Katowice. The film was produced at the Munk Studio.

"Bread and Salt" is a story about a young pianist, a student of the Warsaw University of Music, who returns to his hometown on vacation, where his mother, younger brother and friends from the neighborhood are waiting for him.

Damian Kocur is the author of internationally awarded short films. The last one, "Beyond is the day" won, among others awards for the best short film at the international film festivals in Trieste and Tehran, the award for the best European film at the festival in Clermont-Ferrand and was nominated for the European Film Award.

Tomasz Woźniczka is a laureate of the Golden Tadpole and the Award of the Polish Filmmakers Association for the Most Promising Young Artist at the Camerimage International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography for the film "Beyond the Horizon" by Kuba Czekaj. Currently a lecturer at the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice.

The 79th Venice International Film Festival will be held from August 31 to September 10 this year.

Produced at the Kieślowski Film School film "Liberty" (2021), dir. Joanna Różniak returns from the 5th edition of the Beach Film Festival in North Macedonia with the award for the best student short film. This year's jury including: Srdjan Dragojevic (Serbia), Caveh Zahedi (USA) and Fred Kelemen (Germany).

"Liberty" takes place in the near-distant dystopian future, where citizens rebel against an increasingly oppressive nationalist government. The cinematographer for the film is Łukasz Łatanik. Maria Kawalec was responsible for production management. The producer of the film is Krystyna Doktorowicz.

The 5th edition of the Beach Film Festival was held in the city of Ohrid on July 20-24 this year. The etudes: "Forever" (2021), dir. Aleksandra Kamińska and "Hide and Seek" (2022), dir. Karolina Belka.

The book "Event - Technique - Art: Thinking of Film Art: Observations" by the Vice-Dean for Science and Art at Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia, prof. Jerzy Łukaszewicz was nominated for the award of the Polish Society for Film and Media Research for 2021 in the category "Best Book of the Year". The book was published by the Publishing House of the University of Silesia.

The results will be announced on September 1, 2022. The award ceremony will be held during the 47th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.

6 short films produced at the Kieślowski Film School have been qualified for the Short Film Competition at the 47th edition of the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia.

On the other hand, 4 films by our graduates and lecturers were submitted to the Main Competition.

This year's edition of the festival will be held on September 12-17, 2022.
