Short films at international film festivals in July

Our short films in July will be shown, among others in Germany, Estonia, South Korea and North Macedonia.

The 18th edition of the International Short Film Festival Detmold takes place at the beginning of the month in Detmold, Germany. The festival program includes "Windows" (2022), dir. Julia Dziworska and "Forever" (2021) dir. Aleksandra Kamińska. "Imprisoned" (2021), dir. Piotr Bieliński will be seen by viewers of the 36th edition of Pärnu Film Festival (Estonia) and the 12th edition of Prairie Pride Film Festival (Nebraska, USA).

"When The Night Comes" (2021), dir. Katarzyna Sikorska is competing for awards in the student competition at the Albanian KO: SH Film Festival. The event takes place in the city of Korcza from 12 to 16 July.

In turn, "Last Days of Summer" (2020), dir. Klaudia Kęska will be presented to South Korean audience during the 17th edition of Busan Int'l Kids and Youth Film Festival. The film went to the Finding Myself section.

On the other hand, at the Beach Film Festival in North Macedonia, three films will have a chance to win awards: "Liberty" (2021), dir. Joanna Różniak, "Forever" (2021), dir. Aleksandra Kamińska and "Hide and Seek" (2022), dir. Karolina Belka. The 5th edition of the festival will be held in the city of Ohrid on July 20-24, 2022.

Four our shorts in the competition of the Kameralne Lato in Radom

Four films produced by the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice will take part in the Polish Short Film Competition during the 15. Kameralne Lato festival in Radom.

The presented films are:

„Dygot” (2022) reż. Joanna Różniak
„Szukam” (2022) reż. Karolina Belka

15. Kameralne Lato festival will take place between 3 and 9. July in Radom. Polish Film Meetings KAMERALNE LATO are a mixture of the film screenings and film competitions with the workshops and many additional events. Since this year the competitive part of the event is called FREEDOM Film Festival. Except of the annual national competition of the selected Polish short films, the organizers prepared also an international competition.

“Last Days of Summer” by Klaudia Kęska awarded in Marocco

The short film "Last days of summer" (2020), dir. Klaudia Kęska produced by the Kieślowski Film School returns from the 3. Morocco Shorts International Film Festival with an award for the best fiction film.

The film's cinematographer is Kamil Małecki. The production was managed by: Stanisław Bryś, Aleksandra Gajdosz, Ewa Dubiel. The producer of the film is Krystyna Doktorowicz.

"Last Days of Summer" tells the story of a teenage Tosia who faces a difficult moral dilemma - a choice between justice and the protection of loved ones.

The 3. Morocco Shorts International Film Festival was held on June 22-24, 2022 in Rabat under the slogan "Voices of young Africa and the world". The prizes were awarded by the Jury: Rachid Kasmi, Sonia Okacha and Merieme Addou. The festival aims to present young cinema, to connect young filmmakers with Moroccan audiences.

In the competition the audience could also see the short film "Liberty" (2021), dir. Joanna Różniak.

Our films at the 51. Lubuskie Lato Filmowe

As many as 15 films produced at Kieślowksi Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice will be presented during the 51. Lubuskie Lato Filmowe in Łagów. Four have qualified for the Short Fiction Film Competition, and eleven will be shown at the spcial screenings presenting the Kieślowski Film School.

The 51. Lubuskie Lato Filmowe takes place on June 26 - July 3, 2022. Lubuskie Lato Filmowe presents cinematography from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The main prize of the festival is the Złote Grono.

“The Hero” by Milena Dutkowska at the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival

Produced at the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia, the short film "The Hero" (2021), dir. Milena Dutkowska qualified for the 28th edition of the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival.

"The Hero" is about Cyprian - a 10-year-old orphan who dreams of becoming a true hero. The film's cinematographer is Igor Połaniewicz. Ernest Małkiewicz was responsible for production management. The producer of the film is Krystyna Doktorowicz (Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia).

Palm Springs International Short Film Festival is the largest festival dedicated to short films in North America. The 28th edition of the event takes place on June 21-27, 2022. Each year, the festival presents over 300 short films from around the world and organizes a fair with over 3,000 films. Palm Springs International Short Film Festival is on the prestigious list of Oscar qualifying festivals, BAFTA Awards, Canadian Screen Award.

Milena Dutkowska's trip to this event was possible thanks to the support of the Polish Film Institute from PO Promotion of Polish film abroad Priority III: Foreign scholarships.
