Produced at the Kieślowski Film School, the short film "The Hero" (2021) dir. Milena Dutkowska, returns from the 5th edition of the Świat Maklaka Film Festival in Konstancin-Jeziorna with the Grand Prix Award. The award was granted by the Jury composed of: Jerzy Kapuściński (chairman of the Jury), Edyta Markiewicz-Brzozowska and Stanisław Pieniak.

The cinematographer for the movie "The Hero" is Igor Połaniewicz. Ernest Małkiewicz was responsible for production management. The pedagogical supervision over the production was performed by prof. Filip Bajon. The producer of the film is prof. Krystyna Doktorowicz.

The 5th edition of the Świat Maklaka Film Festival was held on 23-25 September 2022. The Świat Maklaka Film Festival brings back timeless films with the participation of Zdzisław Maklakiewicz and looks for the right distance, irony, humor and references to contemporary life among contemporary filmmakers.

Film: lab is a series of free professional training courses for representatives of various professions within the directing and cinematographer's departments. The aim of the training is to prepare qualified staff to work on a film set in roles other than just a director and cinematographer. As part of the training, participants will be prepared for such roles as: gaffer, camera operator, Script & Continuity, data wrangler and grip. A maximum of ten participants can take part in each course.

The first series of workshops will take place in October:

  • GAFFER 3-7.10 (tutor: Max Pawlikowski)
  • CAMERA OPERATOR 7-9.10 (tutor: Bartosz Blaschke)
  • CONTINUITY & SUPERVISOR 8-9.10 (tutor: Weronika Dudkiewicz)
  • DIT / DATA WRANGLER 6-7.10 (tutor: Norbert Rudzik)
  • GRIP 4-7.10 (tutor: Paweł Satala).

During the workshops, participants will have the opportunity to work at the Studio of the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice, the editing room, the location (apartment in a tenement house) and at the Cinelight headquarters. During the practical classes, participants will also cooperate with actors, sound engineers and a makeup artist.

The 20. Tirana International Film Festival takes place from 24-30 September. In the VIDEO ART & EXPERIMENTAL competition, the international premiere of the film "SOLILOQUIUM" (2022), dir. Karolina Monwid-Olechnowicz and produced at the Kieślowski Film School, will take plakce and the film will compete among others for a nomination to the European Film Awards.

Tirana International Film Festival is one of the most important short and independent cinema festivals in the Balkans. Since several years, it has the status of a festival qualifying for the European Film Awards and the Oscar. This year's edition takes place on September 24-30, 2022.

The film "SOLILOQUIUM" in Albania is represented by the director - Karolina Monwid-Olechnowicz and Sound Designer Szymon Orłowski (Dźwiękuję Bardzo).

Karolina Monwid-Olechnowicz's trip to this event was possible thanks to the support of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute from the program "Polish Culture in the World".

In turn, in the main competition of the festival, the film "Illusion", dir. Marta Minorowicz, our lecturer, will be screened. The film was shot by our graduate and lecturer, dr Paweł Chorzępa.

On September 24, in Międzygórze in Lower Silesia, as part of the "Miejsce po Michale" series, the film "Wölfelsgrund. Patho Film" by the lecturer at the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice, prof. Adam Sikora, combined with a vernissage of the author's works, drawings and photographs will take place. The screening of the film and an exhibition of Adam Sikora's works will take place in the beautifully renovated interiors of Villa Góralka. Międzygórze, or the former Wölfelsgrund prof. Adam Sikora chose his place to live and has been drawing inspiration from it for years. The artist's latest film experiment was presented at Polish film festivals: Kino na Granicy (Cieszyn), New Horizons International Film Festival (Wrocław).

We invite you to the vernissage of an exhibition devoted to the work of the lecturer at the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice, prof. Bogdan Dziworski, which will take place on September 22, 2022 at 16.00 at the CINiBA (Scientific Information Center and the Academic Library). The exhibition will be presented in the main hall of CINiBA (level 0).
