The building of the Kieslowski Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice is in the forefront of the 9th edition of the Life in the Architecture competition - in the most important national competition for the most significant architectural projects of 2015-2019.
The "Life in the Architecture" competition has been organized by the editors of the "Architektura-murator" monthly since 1995. The competition is very popular and recognized by the architectural community, international architectural institutions as well as local and state authorities. To date over 3,000 buildings competed in the 8 editions of the Competition.
The tenth documentary workshop has come to an end, which for the first time did not target humans, but animals! And it was also a wild animal.
The workshops took place in the Beskid Sądecki on the slopes of Eliaszówka from October 3 to 10, 2020. Masterclass for first-year students: directing and cinematography was conducted by Krystian Matysek - our excellent graduate, author of films such as "Dziobem i pazurem" ( 2001), "Niedźwiedź - władca gór" (2012), "Piasek jest drapieżnikiem" (2005), "Łowcy miodu" (2015). Beata Dzianowicz provided pedagogical supervision over the workshops.
For the results of hunting the animals with their lenses we will have to still wait a bit.
Kieślowski Film School and the Silesia Film Institution join forces in a new project. Soon, we will see short films by students of the Film School on the screens of studio cinemas in Katowice, Żywiec and Racibórz. The new SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION starts in the second half of October.
For years, the Silesia Film Institution has been keeping its finger on the pulse of news coming from the young Polish filmmakers. Many of them - like Maciej Pieprzyca, Marek Lechki and Agnieszka Smoczyńska - graduated from the Kieślowski Film School, one of the best universities of this type in the country. Wanting to support young filmmakers who are just waiting for their debut on the big screen, Silesia Film and the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice joined forces and from mid-October we will jointly implement a project called the SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION. As part of the series, starting on October 20, short films made in recent years by students of the Katowice Film School will be shown on the screens of the cinemas operated by Silesia Film.
All short films were selected jointly by the Film School and Silesia Film. On the big screen, viewers will see, among others films "Lolo" (2019) by Michał Piotrowski, "Ravik The Steppe Turtle" (2018) by Michał Chmielewski, "Toń" (2019) by Martyna Ludwig, "Flower of one night" (2019) by Nata Szady, "Old Youth" ( 2018) by Marcin Magiera, "The Whisperer" (2019) by Katarzyna Sikorska. The leitmotif of all films is imagination and how it can be materialized through cinema.
The films will be shown on one selected Tuesday of the month before each of the repertoire screenings in Katowice's Kosmos, Światowid and Rialto studio cinemas, as well as in the Bałtyk Cinema in Racibórz before the Tuesday show of the Connoisseur Club and in cine-club Janosik in Żywiec before the Wednesday Film Club screening.
We are honored to invite our new students to the inauguration of the 2020/2021 academic year at the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia.

"My country, so beautiful" by Grzegorz Paprzycki is the winner of the international short documentary competition during the 25th It's All True - International Documentary Film Festival in São Paulo (Brazil).
It's All True - International Documentary Film Festival is the leading and at the same time the oldest event dedicated exclusively to nonfiction cinema in Latin America. Founded by Amir Labaki, the festival annually presents over 100 Brazilian and international documentary premieres. The films are screened simultaneously in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
This is yet another success of Paprzycki’s film, the lucky strike of which began in May last year during the 59th Krakow Film Festival, where Grzegorz Paprzycki received the Golden Hobby-Horse for taking up the current topic at the same time staying in accordance with the tradition of the Polish documentary films participating in public life.
The producer of the film is Krystyna Doktorowicz (Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice). The film was made under the artistic supervision of Beata Dzianowicz and Andrzej Fidyk.
