This Monday, June 22, the Cannes Film Market is starting. This year, for the first time in history, Marché du Film (June 22-26, 2020) will be held in an online formula. Also for the first time this year, during the market, the school's lecturer, Anna Huth, will present a project of an incubator for young filmmakers - Film Proxy. The Film Proxy project was developed as a part of the Next Wave residency program of the German Film and Television Academy DFFB in Berlin.

Participation in the presentation and the accompanying discussion led by AC Coppens is possible for accredited guests of the Festival on 23.06.2020 at 17:00.

For the academic year 2020/2021 you are already able to apply for the new study course at the Kieślowski Film School, University of Silesia in the field of study Creative management in new media.

The studies are a proposition for people who have a bachelor's degree (Bachelor) or a master's degree (MA or MSc) and want to strengthen their competences in the field of communication in social media, as well as broaden, organize and consolidate their knowledge about new tools and techniques of using social media. The studies will comprehensively prepare you for work in the age of media convergence and navigate efficiently in the world of digital media.

All classes during studies will be conducted entirely in English. The first year of study will be held remotely (online). The second year of study will be conducted stationary at the Kieślowski Film School, University of Silesia in Katowice. At the end of the two-year period you will graduate with the master's degree in Creative Management in new media.

The study course covers 1200 teaching hours. The semester fee is PLN 6800.00 (1500 Euro).

In the Polish competition during the 60th Krakow Film Festival, their world premieres had two short films from our School - "Last Days of Summer" dir. Klaudia Kęska and "Submission" dir. Michał Ciechomski. Both shorts were made at the Kieslowski Film School under the pedagogical supervision of prof. Maciej Pieprzyca.

On 25.05.2020 we finish the series of workshops organized by prof. UŚ dr hab. Marcin Koszałka. His last guest will be director and lecturer of the London Film School and American Film Institute in Los Angeles - Rafael Kapeliński. The workshopius primarily dedicated to directing students of our School. He will discuss his feature debut "Butterfly Kisses" which was awarded the Crystal Bear at the Berlinale 2017.

Rafael Kapeliński has made a number of short films since 2006, which have won over twenty-five international awards at major festivals in such places as Cannes, Oberhausen, Austin, New Horizons and Brest. His feature debut "Butterfly Kisses" (production: BBC Films / Film London / Microwave / Blue Shadows Films) won the Crystal Bear at Berlinale in 2017. His feature project "Up on the Roof" won the prestigious Cinefondation Residence scholarship at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008. Rafael Kapeliński has just finished the film "A Woman at Night", which is currently awaiting its the festival premiere. At the same time, he is preparing for the next film, "Diary from a trip to Budapest" that is planned for January 2021.

Access to a copy of the movie "Butterfly Kisses" was made available to our students by its distributor in Poland - Solopan Polska.

A Polish screenwriter Łukasz M. Maciejewski is the next guest of our lecturer prof. Marcin Koszałka. On 20.05.2020 he will conduct classes for students of the Kieślowski Film School, which main theme will be the scriptwriter's cooperation with the director and actors.

Łukasz M. Maciejewski is a co-author of the script for the directorial debut of Marcin Koszałka, "Czerwony pająk" (2015). Based on his script, the film "Najmro. He loves, steals, respects” directed by Mateusz Rakowicz is produced. Maciejewski is also the main screenwriter of the TV series 'Król' based on the novel by Szczepan Twardoch directed by our lecturer Jan P. Matuszyński.

Classes are dedicated mainly to our film directing students, but other students can also attend as observers.
