Students of the Kieślowski Film School are invited to a special online lecture. At the invitation of prof. UŚ dr hab. Rafał Milach Maciej Pisuk – a screenwriter, a script doctor, and a photographer will talk about his work. The lecture will be held on Tuesday, 5.5.2020 at 11.00 on ZOOM.

Maciej Pisuk is a graduate of the Scriptwriting School at the Polish National Film School in Łódź and a member of the European Film Academy. Based on his script, a famous film "Jesteś Bogiem" (2012) dir. Leszek Dawid was made.

Between 2005-2018 Pisuk worked on a photographic and reporting series on Brzeska Street in the Praga Północ district of Warsaw. The summary of this work will be a book that will be published between 2020/2021. Maciej Pisuk is currently working on the script of the feature film about Jacek Kuroń.

After the lecture, there will be time for a Q&A session during which the artist will answer the students’ questions.

We invite students of the Kieślowski Film School for another online lecture at the special invitation of prof. UŚ dr hab. Rafał Milach. This time Christoph Bangert - a German photojournalist, teacher, winner of the World Press Photo award will meet our students on Tuesday, 28.04.2020 at 11.00 on ZOOM to talk about his work and latest projects.

Christoph Bangert became famous for widely commented photos from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which were published, among others in The New York Times. He wrote several books including "War Porn" (2014) and "Hello Camel" (2016). Bangert regularly conducts photojournalism and documentary photography classes at universities and photography schools around the world.

The lecture will be followed by a Q&A session during which the guest will answer the questions.

XVII Węgiel Film Festival / Jędrzej Pisarek

Due to the global situation caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, unfortunately we were forced to postpone the date of the 17th edition of the Węgiel Film Festival.

The festival will take place this year from May 13-15 and will exceptionally be separated from the open days of the Kieślowski Film School. The 17. Węgiel Film Festival will also take on a new formula. We will meet ONLINE. Competition and non-competition film screenings, consultations with lecturers, meetings with representatives of the film industry, discussions - all this will take place online.

Please also note that the Festival will take place on the YouTube channel of the Kieślowski Film School.

Mark Power “Good Morning America” 2018 / Magnum Photos

We invite students of our faculty to an online lecture by Marek Power - a valued photographer, member of the prestigious Magnum Photos agency. The lecture will take place this Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at 12.00 on ZOOM.

Mark Power will talk about the project "Melody of two songs" (2004-2009), which he implemented in our country. He looked at Poland from the position of an external observer. He documented forgotten places of the second and third category, which made up a fascinating picture of a country far from postcards. During the lecture Mark Power will also talk about his latest project "Good Morning, America" which he is now working on.

After the lecture Q&A will take place and the artist will answer our students’ questions.

Suspension of teaching activities
Due to the threat of an outbreak of coronavirus infections beginning with March 11, 2020 inclusive, all teaching classes at the University of Silesia, including the Kieślowski Film School, are suspended until further notice. We ask students to handle all matters at the university and school by e-mail or telephone only. Detailed information on how didactics will function in the summer semester, as well as the closing of the winter session will be provided successively in messages posted on the Film School website or by email.
